Rear cupboard sliding door . . .

Post by lewisnoble on Sat Jul 21, 2012 2:01 am

On our 4 week holiday to Finland (great holiday, by the way!) our sliding door (I think they are called tambour doors?) broke down one of the folding joins - the 'disconnected part' is now beyond finger reach in its slider between the cupboard and the wardrobe.

These sort of doors are a good idea in threory, saving space and so on, but they seem a bit fragile. I cannot get the disconnected part out; if I could do so, I would have a god at mending it with strong tape of something, I am reluctant to pay what I believe is a high price for a new door.

If I cannot retrieve the disconnected part, I am tempted to make something using elastic netting, which I would probably prefer anyway.

Any ideas??

bad luck - have you tried something like electrician's pliers - they may just be narrow enough allow you to get a hold of the remaining bit of the door if it isn't too far in?

I agree with you about the doors, they do seem a bit fragile.

Thanks Spike - tried that - the edge of the cupboard makes access with pliers difficult.

Not a big deal anyway.

Away for next 10 days so will not be able to respond to posts.
